Edward Karwaski

Obituary of Edward W. Karwaski

Edward “Whitey” Karwaski, 82, of the Greenwood section of Moosic, passed into eternal rest Monday at Geisinger Community Medical Center.  He is survived by his devoted wife the former Dolores Collins Karwaski and together they have celebrated 58 years of marriage. Ed proudly served our country with the Air Force during the Korean War. He opened the Apple House in 1968 in Moosic where he spent decades driving truck across the country. He would do anything to help someone. He was especially charitable with local churches, little leagues, Greenwood Hose Co. and the Little Sister of the Poor. He attended mass every morning at St. Peter’s cathedral for years. He started his day at 4am in his office and passed on his strong work ethics to his children. In his younger years, he loved to race stock cars and attended the Daytona 500 every year. His pride was in his beautiful trucks that were known nationwide as one of the nicest on the road. There wasn’t anywhere that Eddie didn’t go that he did not meet someone he knew. His two sons Eddie Jr. and Brian worked for him from when they were little boys and his son-in-law Vince spent 18 years working for the family business.

Eddie spent the last two and half years at Mt. View Care Center where he received excellent care. He loved to attend mass and participate in activities there, especially when Polka singers came. He enjoyed sitting outside under the gazebo in the summer time. He said hello and shook hands with every resident and staff and was very appreciative of his care. His wife visited tirelessly every day despite her own health issues.

He was a truly unique person that his personality and work ethics are irreplaceable, and his smiling face and beautiful blue eyes will be greatly missed.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Maureen Rebar, and husband, Vince, Throop; two sons, Eddie Jr., and wife Lesa, Old Forge and Brian and companion Lisa, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Eddie, Austin, Kevin and Vincent.
