Obituary of Guido D. Boriosi

Guido D. Boriosi M.D., 84, of Clarks Green, entered into rest Tuesday evening at Geisinger Mountain View Care Center. He is survived by his devoted wife the former Catherine Sopp and together, they have celebrated 52 years of marriage.

Born in Dunmore and raised in Old Forge, he was the son of the late Pacifico and Gina Ciuferri Boriosi.  Guido was a graduate of Old Forge High School, Class of 1950, and four years later earned his undergraduate degree at Lafayette College. Shortly after, he accepted the position of Acting Director of Radiation Protection for the State of Pennsylvania. Pursuing his childhood dream of becoming a physician, Guido stepped down from that position to enroll at Jefferson Medical School earning his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1965. He subsequently completed his psychiatric residency at Warren State Hospital.  Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and a member of the Pennsylvania Psychiatric Society, Dr. Boriosi practiced in the Scranton area for 44 years. 

Aside from his love of seeing patients, Guido enjoyed spending time with friends at the Country Club of Scranton playing golf and bridge.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Marc, South Abington Twp.; a daughter, Tammy Moorehead and her husband Anthony, Ackerman, MS; grandsons, Anthony and William, Ackerman, MS; granddaughter Jean Mixon, her husband Brandon and their two children, Miranda and Alex, Florence, MS; and niece, Cecilia Rondelli Harvey and her family, Little Egg Harbor Twp., NJ.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lena Rondelli Roscoe and Eleanor Micheletti.

A private Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, July 31 at the Church of St. Gregory, concelebrated by the Reverend John Lapera, pastor and the Reverend Eduard Shestak, St. Nicholas Byzantinr Catholic Church, Old Forge 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of St. Gregory Church Building Fund, 330 N. Abington Road, Clarks Green, PA  18411.
