Obituary of Dorothy Polanchik

Dorothy Krenitsky Polanchik, of Old Forge, died Tuesday at Allied Skilled Nursing Center.  Her beloved husband was the late Steve, “Skip”, who passed away on March 3, 2016. Together, Steve and Dorothy shared 57 wonderful years of marriage.

 

Born in Old Forge, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Theresa Kopestonsky Krenitsky.  Dorothy was a graduate of Old Forge High School Class of 1952. A devoted homemaker all her life, Dorothy lovingly tended to the daily needs of her family.  She was a lifelong devout parishioner of St. Michael’s Orthodox Church, Old Forge.  Active within her church, Dorothy taught Sunday School, sang in the church choir, was president of the Ladies Club, was president of the Society of St. Michaels’ and was always there to lend a helping hand. Above all, Dorothy’s greatest enjoyment in her life was spending time with her beloved family, especially her sisters. Although her presence will be deeply missed, there is much comfort in knowing she is reunited with her husband, Steve, and all her family and friends who have gone before her.

 

She is survived by three children, Paul and his wife, Mary, Old Forge; Daria, Haverstraw, NY and Nadine Lettini and her husband, Felix, Linden, NJ; a daughter-in-law, Mia, Poughkeepsie, NY; grandchildren, Nicholas Polanchik, Angelica and Felix Jr. Lettini, Michael and Shawn McNerney; great grandsons, Nikolas and Liam; two brothers, Philip Krenitsky, Old Forge and David and wife Debbie Krenitsky, Carbondale; five sisters, Evelyn Bunevich and husband, Peter, Taylor; Mildred Heller and husband, Reuben, Nazareth; Alice Hughes and husband, Robert, Springbrook; Theresa Gatto and husband, Ted, Old Forge and Margie Strazzeri, Old Boston section of Pittston; Nieces, Nephews, Cousins.

 

The Polanchik family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Armando Salavanti,and  the staff of Allied Skilled Nursing and Allied Hospice.

 

 A son, Philip, who died in 1995, four brothers, Metro, Harold, and Nicholas Krenitsky and two sisters, Mary Hoover and Ann Pregmon preceded her in death. The funeral will be Monday at 8:45 am from the Semian Funeral, 704 Union St., Taylor, followed by services at 9:30 am in St. Michael's Orthodox Church, 512 Summer St., Old Forge, by the Reverend Peter Henry, rector. Interment parish cemetery, Old Forge. Friends may call Sunday 2 pm till 5 pm at the funeral home.
