Obituary of Dorothy Strok

Dorothy Bernacik Strok, 90, of the Greenwood section of Moosic, entered eternal life on Thursday evening at Allied Skilled Nursing Center.  Her beloved husband was Joseph Strok Sr, who passed away on May 17, 2010 and together Dorothy and Joe were married for 58 years.

 

Born in Scranton, on January 5, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Anna Sirko Bernacik.  In 1946, Dorothy graduated from Scranton Technical High School.  For over 25 years, she worked for Topps Chewing Gum, Duryea.  She was a life long parishioner of St. Stanislaus Polish National Catholic Church, Scranton.  A woman of many enjoyments, Dorothy especially enjoyed crocheting, the challenge of word puzzles and bowling. Above all, her favorite enjoyment was being surrounded by her loving family. She was a member of the South Scranton after 50 club and the teamsters Union.

 

Surviving are two sons, Joseph Strok, Jr. and wife, Sherry, Moosic; Paul Strok; 5 grandchildren, Nicholas Sabitus; Julianna Warnack and husband, Craig; Dominique Juliano; Brandon and Tyler Strok; three great grandchildren; McKayla, Madison and Nathan; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Joseph Strok III and three sisters, Eugenis Filarsky, Olga Rysz and Eleanor Bernacik.

Family and friends are invited to attend Dorothy’s funeral which will be on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St. Taylor with services by the Rev. Janusz A. Lucarz, assistant pastor.  Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Orthodox Cemetery, Old Forge.  Friends may call Monday 4 to 7 p.m.
