Obituary of Delores Dee Lehman

Delores (Dee) Lehman 76, of Dunmore, formerly of Taylor PA, died Tuesday at home.

Born May 9, 1942 in Taylor, she was the daughter of the late Frank Sr. and Julia Dretar Lehman. Delores was a graduate of the Taylor school system, proudly graduating from Taylor High in1960. She was a life long parishioner of Saints Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church, Scranton.

She is survived by her brother, Frank Jr. and his wife Carol Anne Keemer Lehman of Royal Oak MD, nieces Jennifer Gaye Lehman Benz of Newport News, VA; and Julie Renee Lehman Bruck of Wilmington DE and grand nieces Sydney and Hannah Bruck who she loved doting over at Christmas time.

Delores spent her life making many lifelong friends and always greeted them with a cheerful and happy smile. She enjoyed shopping, playing cards, going out to dinner with friends and traveling to Atlantic City and Pocono Downs casinos for a special day out. Dee was also known for her collections of many chiming clocks and collectible dolls.

Dee was active with United Cerebral Palsy of Lackawanna and the Independent Living Association. She made many appearances for these organizations and was recognized for her support for empowering people with disabilities.

Family and friends are invited to attend Dee’s funeral which will begin on Saturday at 11 AM from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St. Taylor, followed by services at 11:30 AM in Saints Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church, Washburn Street, Scranton, by the Very Rev. Archpriest Basil Micek.  Interment will follow on the parish cemetery.  Friends may call Saturday from 10 am until 11 am at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Northeast Pennsylvania Center for Independent Living, 1142 Sanderson Ave., Scranton, 18509, an organization that for many years supported Delores in her quest for total independence and a fuller life.
