Obituary of Carol Marion Kearney

Carol Marion Slivanik Kearney,76, of the Minooka section of Scranton, died Wednesday morning at Regional Hospital of Scranton.  Her beloved husband, David died November 1, 1987.

 

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late John and Stella Kulikowski Slivanik.  Carol was a graduate of Moosic High School and Lackawanna Beauty School.  Her main focus in life was raising her sons and spending time with her grandchildren.  She was a faithful parishioner of Divine Mercy Parish and was very active in the women’s’ guild at St. Mary’s Czestochowa Church.  Throughout the years, Carol enjoyed traveling.

 

The Kearney family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the Intensive Care Unit staff at Regional Hospital of Scranton for their compassion and care during the last few weeks.

 

Surviving are five sons, David J. and wife, Rita, Newport News, VA; Richard and wife, Doreen, Moosic; Robert and wife, Kim, Williamstown, NJ; Allen and wife, Anna, Scranton and Todd and wife, Sara, Pasadena, MD; eight grandchildren, Megan, David, Erin, Reilly, Braden, Ryan, Lexi and Gabby; nieces and nephews.

 

 A sister, Marlene Potosky preceded her in death.

 

Family and friends are invited to attend Carol’s funeral beginning on Monday at 9:15 AM from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St. Taylor, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Divine Mercy Parish, 312 Davis St. Scranton, by the Rev. Francis L. Pauselli.  Interment, St. Mary’s Czestochowa Cemetery, Moosic.  Friends may call Sunday 4 to 8 PM.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Relief Services, 228 W. Lexington St., Baltimore, MD  21201.
