Obituary of Stanley J. Lewandowski

Stanley J. Lewandowski, of Taylor, died unexpectedly Thursday at home.  He is survived by his wife, the former Ann Marie Suby and together they have celebrated 48 years of marriage.

 

Born in Scranton, he was the only child born to the late Francis X. and Sophie Darmofal Lewandowski.  In 1962, Stan graduated from West Scranton High School.  He proudly served our county with the US Navy during the Korean War and was an honor guard for President John F Kennedy.  Prior to his retirement, he worked for Tobyhanna Army Depot for 37 years.  Stan was a parishioner of St. George’s Orthodox Church, Taylor.  Throughout the years, he enjoyed fishing and playing pool.  One of his past times was scratch off bingo lottery tickets.  He was a former member of St. George’s Social Club and a member of the VFW, Old Forge.

 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children; Stacie Lewandowski, Dunmore; Stanley Lewandowski Jr., Pittston Twp., Darren Lewandowski and wife, Renee, Factoryville; Debbie Connors and husband, Gene, Taylor; Ed Davies and wife, Barbara, Pringle; and Howard Davies, Taylor; thirteen grandchildren.

 

Family and friends are invited to attend Stan’s funeral, which will begin on Monday at 8:45 am from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St. Taylor, followed by services at 9:30 am in ST. George’s Orthodox Church, 743 S. Keyser Ave. Taylor, to be celebrated by the Very Rev. Mark Leasure, pastor.  Interment with military honors will follow in the parish cemetery.  Friends may call Sunday 2-5 pm.  Panachida services will be at 2 pm.
