Obituary of Stanley Henry Stankiewicz
Stanley Henry Stankiewicz of Taylor died Friday afternoon at home surrounded by his loving family. His devoted wife, the former Gloria Andrejack, died May 6, 2010, and together they celebrated 55 years of marriage.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Mary Pertiko Wasylyk. Stanley faithfully served our country with the United States Navy during the Korean War on the USS Missouri and was honorably discharged. Prior to his retirement, he worked for Chamberlain Corp. for many years. He was a past president of Local 847.
His family was the center of his life, and when he was not with them, he enjoyed fishing and hunting.
The Stankiewicz family would like to express its deepest gratitude to the VNA Hospice and Home Health for the care and compassion given to Stanley.
Surviving are four daughters, Sharon Capalongo and husband, Frank, Taylor; Shelly Spano, Scranton; Sandra Svadeba and husband, Stephen; and Susan McNamara, all of Taylor; six grandchildren, Amy Capalango; Stacey Canfield (Jonathan); Sloan Cummings (Michael); Bradley McNamara; and Shannon and Michele Spano; six great-grandchildren, Mia and Emma Capalongo; Ruby Gloria and Beau Henry Canfield; Karson Spano; and Stone Cummings; a brother, Robert Visnofsky and wife, Joyce, Scranton; nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend Stanley’s funeral Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Mary of the Assumption Church at Prince of Peace Parish, 123 W. Grace St., Old Forge, to be celebrated by the Rev. August A. Ricciardi, pastor. Interment services with military honors in Holy Cross Cemetery.
