Obituary of Marion Spilka Sosnowski

Marion Spilka Sosnowski, 87, of Scranton, died late Wednesday evening at Regional Hospital of Scranton.

 

Born in Mayfield, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Anna Iwanick Spilka.  In 1948, Marion graduated from Scranton Technical High School.  She was a life long parishioner of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, Scranton.  Her family was the center of her life, especially her adoring grandchildren.

 

The Sosnowski Family would like to acknowledge the staff of the Greenridge Nursing Home and also Dr. Nicholas Dodge, Dr. Kenneth M. Jacobs and Dr. Kenneth Rudolph for their care and compassion they have shown to Marion.

 

Surviving is a daughter, Diane Bielinski, Scranton; a son, Alexander J. and wife, Karen, Newfoundland; a sister, Joan Spilka and a brother, Russell Spilka, both of Scranton; four grandchildren, Steven, Sara, Kaitlin and April; a great grandson, Cullen; nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

A brother, Walter Spilka preceded her in death.

 

Family and friends are invited to attend Marion’s funeral which will begin on Wednesday, May 16 at 9:15 am from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St. Taylor, followed by services at 10 am in St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, Jefferson & Vine Streets, Scranton by the Rev. Daniel Vaskalis.  Interment, St. John’s Russian Orthodox Cemetery, Mayfield.  Friends may call Tuesday 4-7 pm. Panichida services will be at 6:30 PM.
