Obituary of Edward M. Stout

Edward M. “Bud” Stout, 90, of the Austin Heights section of Old Forge, died Tuesday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. His beloved wife, the former Genevieve Lininger, died March 8, 2012, and together they celebrated 63 years of marriage.

Born in Thornhurst, he was the son of the late Maurice and Catherine Kozik Stout. Ed proudly served our country with the United States Army during WWII with 66th constabulary squadron. He was decorated with the Army Occupation Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. In 2014, he returned to Normandy, France, for the Normandy Celebration and then onto Germany to visit Hitler’s Eagles Nest, which he patrolled at the conclusion of WWII. Ed was an expert cabinet maker and experienced carpenter, working for Amity Kitchens, Taylor, for over 30 years. He was a parishioner of Holy Mother of Sorrows Polish National Catholic Church and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4909, both of Dupont. Ed was an active member of Acacia Lodge 579 F&AM, Taylor, where he served as Worshipful Master in 1985 and 1994. He was also an active board member of the Acacia Lodge craftsman association, the Tall Cedars Lebanon, past principal of Masonic School of Instruction for the 59th Masonic District, the Masonic Century Club and the Knights of Pythias. During Ed’s Masonic career, he personally performed 128 Masonic degrees and was present to welcome hundreds of men into the Masonic fraternity.

Surviving are two daughters, Geri Ann DePaola and husband, Rinaldo, Sayre; Terri Lou Noakes, Old Forge; a granddaughter, Frances Roof and husband, Chas, Towanda; great-grandchildren, Charles and Pearl Roof; two brothers, Theodore and wife, Becky, Clifton Twp., and Richard and wife, Patricia, Jefferson Twp.; sisters, Elizabeth McConnell, Delaware; Jean Stepinski, Orlando, Fla.; Marjorie Kunkle and husband, Durand, Saylorsburg; Judith Neipert and husband, Robert, Tobyhanna; Joan Bowers, Allentown; Kathy Testa, Nanticoke; and Nancy Needham Loughney, Dunmore; a dear brother-in-law, Stanley Frable, Old Forge; and nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Rinaldo E. Depaola; a sister, Louise Beavers; and a brother, Henry.

Family and friends are invited to attend Bud’s funeral which will be Friday at 9:15 a.m. from Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Mother of Sorrows Polish National Catholic Church, 212 Wyoming Ave., Dupont, to be celebrated by the Rev.

Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Masonic services will be at 7 p.m.
