Obituary of Richard D. Metcho

Richard D. Metcho, 67, of Springbrook Township, passed away Saturday evening.

 

Born in Taylor, he was the son of the late Michael and Helen Mikolosko Metcho.  Rich was a graduate of Old Forge High School Class of 1968 and received his associates degree from Lackawanna Jr. College.  He served our country as an aircraft mechanic in the Air Force.  Rich retired from Topps Chewing Gum, Duryea, where he was in quality assurance for 41 years.  He was a parishioner of St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church, Old Forge. Throughout his life, Rich was a proud father who enjoyed spending time with his family, running Lake Scranton, and in his earlier years, riding his motorcycle. He was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan and actively took pride in his home.

 

The Metcho Family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff of Allied Rehabilitation, Geisinger Community Medical Center, and nurse Charlene Hudak, his niece, for their support, care, and comfort.

 

Surviving are a daughter, Kimberly A. Metcho Emmert, her husband, Brian, and “grand-dog” Jack, Scranton; a son, Craig and companion Liz Bing, Philadelphia; a brother, Ronald and wife, Angela, Old Forge; his ex-wife and friend, Marilyn Metcho, Roaring Brook Township; a niece, Dr. Justine Metcho Lengyel and husband, Theodore and children; a nephew, Attorney Ronald II; and several cousins.

 

Family and friends are invited to attend Rich’s funeral which will begin on Wednesday at 8:30 am from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St. Taylor followed by Divine Liturgy at 9 am in St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church, 140 Church St. Old Forge to be celebrated by the Rev. Eduard Shestak, pastor.  Friends may call Tuesday 4-7 Parastas services will be at 5 pm.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Nicholas church or The MSA Coalition, 9935-D Rea Road, #212 Charlotte, NC 28277.
