Obituary of Edward D. Gregorczyk

Edward Gregorczyk Jr., 71, of the Greenwood section Moosic passed away Saturday February 17, 2018 at Regional Hospital of Scranton.

Born November 10, 1946 in Scranton he was a beloved son to his surviving mother Agnes Koproski Gregorczyk and the late Edward Gregorczyk Sr. who passed away January 18, 2017.

Eddie G. served his country in the U.S. Army receiving the army commendation medal, air medal, and purple heart from an injury suffered June 3, 1968 in Vietnam. After returning from Vietnam he achieved the rank of Sargent.

He was a parishioner of Divine Mercy Parish and a former member of St. Mary’s Czestochowa, Moosic. He was previously employed by the Scranton Times and Tobyhanna Army Depot retiring in May of 2007. He was also a devoted member of the American Red Cross.

Ed was aa active  member of Glenmaura National Golf Club and was inducted into the Chic Feldman Foundation in April of 1997 and the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in October of 1998. His outstanding achievements in golf had him win 186 major tournaments with records still not matched.  His love for golf lasted for decades and he enjoyed spending his free time repairing golf clubs.

In addition to his mother he is survived by sister, Marlene Gregorczyk, of Moosic, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to attend Eddie’s funeral which will be held on Thursday beginning at 9:30 am from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St. Taylor, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Divine Mercy Parish 312 Davis St. by the Rev. Francis L. Pauselli.  Interment with full military honors provided by AMVETS of Greater Pittston will follow in St. Mary’s Czestochowa Cemetery, Moosic.  Friends may call Wednesday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.
