Obituary of Ann Bittenbender

Ann Kalenick Bittenbender, 81, of Scranton, died unexpectedly on Wednesday at Regional Hospital of Scranton.  Her beloved husband, John, died July 29, 1996.

 

Born in Old Forge, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Irene Marcovitch Kalenick.  Ann attended Taylor High School and worked as a seamstress in the garment industry until her retirement.  She was a member of Trinity Congregational Church, Scranton. Throughout the years, Ann enjoyed doing cross word puzzles, watching games shows, especially Jeopardy, Family Feud and Cash Cab. She was an avid Yankee fan and her family was the center of her life.

 

Surviving are two daughters, Debby Murphy and husband, Tom; Sue McIlwee and husband, Dave, all of Scranton; a son, Joe and wife, Gina, Telford, Tenn.;  six grandchildren, Dawn Murphy, Tom Murphy and wife, Amanda, Joseph Truschel, Amanda Johnson-Kochis, Larry Kochis, Brett and Bryan Bittendender; six great grandchildren, Aaliyah, Landyn, Troy, T.J., Linkyn and Cayden; a sister, Betty Eiden, Scranton, a close niece, Terry Torres, additional nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

A son, John Jr., two sisters, Irene Kozlowski and Mary Mercurio and two brothers, John Michaylo and William Kalenick and her best friend of 50 years, Ann Stevens preceded her in death.

 

Family and friends are invited to attend Ann’s funeral which will be on Wednesday at 10 am in the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor with services by the Rev. Jeremy Mullen, Trinity Congregational Church, officiating.  Interment Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.  Friends may call Tuesday 4-7
