Obituary of Robert H. Rieder
Robert Hood Rieder, 76, of Taylor, died Sunday at Allied Terrace. He and his wife, Florence Scoda Rieder, recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary.
Born in Taylor on February 16, 1941, he was the son of the late John “Jack” and June Hood Rieder. He was a graduate of Taylor High School, Class of 1959. Bob was a self-employed laundry equipment repairman. Throughout his 50 years of service, he was adored and respected by his many loyal customers, treating them with the upmost respect and fairness. Bob’s greatest joy was undoubtedly his family. He was so proud of all their accomplishments.
He was an active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Scranton Ward, Clarks Summit, where he served in many capacities, including High Priest in the Scranton ward.
Also surviving are his three sons, Dr. Robert and wife, Lynda, Nottingham, Maryland; Dr. Scott and wife, Megan, West Pittston; Dr. Jeffrey and wife, Patti Grande Rieder, Esq., Scott Township, a daughter, Kimberly Rieder and companion Ian McClure; two step-daughters, Brenda Swartz and husband, Joe and Amy McCawley and husband, David, all of Old Forge; eight grandchildren, Brooke Flake, Courtney Nielsen, Joshua, Michael, Abigail, Alex, Adeline and Amelia Rieder; three step grandchildren, Lauren Sunner, Bryan and Scott McCawley; four great grandchildren; a brother, William J. and wife Cindy; and a sister, Marilyn Davies and husband Jeff, all of Taylor; a sister-in-law, Mary Rieder, Springfield; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother Neil T. Rieder.
The Rieder family would like to acknowledge the nursing staff at Allied Terrace and Riverside Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, for their excellent care given to Bob. They would also like to express their deep appreciation to Dr. Kenneth Sebastinelli.
Family and friends are invited to Bob’s funeral service on Saturday. December 23, in the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Milwaukee Cemetery, Ransom Township. Family and friends may call Friday, December 22nd from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Semian Funeral Home.
