Obituary of Mary Krenitsky

Mary Barsigian Krenitsky, 92, formerly of Old Forge, died peacefully on Thursday November 16 surrounded by her family.   Her beloved husband, Alexander H., entered into rest November 1, 2009.

Born in Old Forge, she was the daughter of the late Karl and Evdokia Dutko Barsigian. She was a graduate of the Class of 1943 from Old Forge High School.  Mary was a lifelong parishioner of St. Michael’s Orthodox Church, Old Forge.  A devoted  wife, loving mother and caring grandmother,  Mary’s life accomplishment was being the family caregiver for  her parents, sister, daughters and granddaughters- and if health would have permitted, her Great-Grandchildren.  Her family was the light of her life, and she will always be the light of theirs.  Those who had the pleasure of knowing her will remember her keen wit, and the ability to always have the last word. 

 Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Grippi and husband, Dr. Michael, Bala Cynwyd; Sandy Batton and husband, Dr. James, Clarks Summit; four granddaughters, Kristen  Grippi Litman and husband, Levi, Scarsdale, NY; Amy Osborne and husband, Kieran, Santa Barbara, CA; Jennifer Batton and Jessica Batton both of Clarks Summit;  four great grandchildren, Emily and Alexandra Litman; Sawyer and Sophie Osborne;  nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Jacob and a sister, Anna.  

Her family  would like to express their deepest gratitude to the women at Allied Skilled Nursing- Melissa, Nikita, Patty, Mary Ellen, Gabby, Cathy and Melissa; the  Allied Hospice nursing staff; and the aides from Caregivers of America- Pat, Karen, Lisa, Stephanie, Mariah and Myra for their outstanding devotion and excellent care given  to their mother.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Mary’s funeral which will begin on Monday at 9;15 am from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor, followed by funeral services at 10:00 am in St. Michael’s Orthodox Church, 512  Summer St., Old Forge by the Reverend Peter Henry, rector.  Interment will follow in the parish cemetery, Old Forge.  Friends may call Sunday5:00 to7:00  pm.  Parastas services will be at 6:30 PM.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael’s Orthodox Church.
