Obituary of Mary Anne Wolfsberger

Mary Anne Kempter Wolfsberger, 71, of the Greenwood section of Moosic, entered into eternal life on Sunday, November 12 at Geisinger Community Medical Center, surrounded by her children. 

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Remus Kempter.  Mary Anne was a faithful and devoted Catholic.  She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Parish until its closing.  In recent years, she attended St. Peter’s Cathedral and Divine Mercy Parish. 

Mary Anne was educated in St. Mary of the Assumption School and graduated from South Catholic High School in 1964.  After graduation, Mary Anne was a dedicated and compassionate caregiver to her mother.  After her mother’s passing, Mary Anne was employed by International Salt Company in Clarks Summit for ten years.  Upon the arrival of her first child, Mary Anne began her lifelong devotion of being a wonderful mother and homemaker.  In addition to caring for her four children, she also took care of her father, who resided in the family home until his passing, her uncle, Frank Kempter, and a dear family friend, Aldea Klein. 

Family was the center of Mary Anne’s life.  She was a very loving, dedicated, and supportive mother, and she cherished her precious grandchildren.  She was a nurturing caregiver, and as babies, her grandchildren slept peacefully in her arms.  Grammy loved to read, sing, dance, paint, play games, and do puzzles with her grandchildren.  

Attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sacraments, sporting events, performances, birthday parties, and graduations gave Mary Anne great joy, and witnessing their successes made her so very proud.

A wonderful cook and baker, Mary Anne hosted many holiday gatherings throughout the years.  Her grandchildren loved parties at Grammy’s house. 

Surviving are her four children, Christine Connor and husband, James, Moosic; Leo Wolfsberger and wife, Aubrie, Archbald; Heidi Peoples and husband William, S. Abington Township; Michelle Getts and husband, Ryan, Moosic; and grandchildren, Nathan, Michael, Andrew and Molly Connor; Amelia and Leo Wolfsberger; Liam, Caroline and Rebecca Peoples; Ryan and Daniel Getts; a brother, Joseph Kempter and wife, Cecelia, Richboro; a niece and Goddaughter, Joy Schepis, Princeton, NJ; and a nephew, Joseph Kempter, Vorhees, NJ.  

Family and friends are invited to attend Mary Anne’s funeral which will begin on Thursday at 8:45 AM from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St. Peters Cathedral, 315 Wyoming Ave., Scranton to be celebrated by Msgr. Dale R. Rupert.  Interment will follow in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow.  Friends may call Wednesday 4-7 PM.
