Obituary of Eleanor Dolinish

Eleanor Shifton Dolinish, 91, of Scranton passed away on October 2, 2017 at Regional Hospital of Scranton.  Eleanor was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Joseph “Red” Dolinish, Jr., in 2002.   She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Helen Shifton of Scranton, PA.

Eleanor, a parishioner at St. Nicholas of Mrya Byzantine Catholic Church, devoted her life to her family; their happiness was her happiness. She had a playful sense of humor, a great wit, and spoke her mind freely.  She was adored by all that knew and met her, and will be in our hearts forever.   

Surviving are six sons, Bob and Anthony, Scranton; Jerry and wife Joyce, Boiling Springs; P.J. and wife Cathy, Scranton; Jody and wife Donna, Madison Twp.; and George and wife Donna, Scranton; eight grandchildren, Kara, Sarah and husband, George Holden; Kaitlyn, Rachael, Michael, Andrea, Jacob, and Zachary; two great grandchildren, Charlie and Macie Holden, and many nieces and nephews.  Eleanor is also survived by two brothers, Joseph Shifton, Scranton; Gene Shifton, Wichita, KS; and sister, Betty Breen, Palm Coast, FL.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Secoolish, Factoryville.

The family would like to thank Allied Skilled Nursing 2S, for the excellent care they provided, their kindness and compassion.

The funeral will begin Friday at 9:15 a.m. from the Semian Funeral Home, followed by Divine Liturgy at 10:00 a.m. from St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church, 140 Church St., Old Forge, PA, with Father Eduard Shestak presiding. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
