Obituary of Pauline Ann Histed
Pauline Ann (Semion) Histed, 69, of Archbald passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 29, 2017 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous two year battle with ovarian cancer. Her husband of 44 years is Girard (Jerry) Histed.
Born January 05, 1948 in Taylor, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Anna Churnock Semion. Pauline graduated in 1965 from Taylor-Moosic High School and attended Wilkes University. She was employed by Tobyhanna Army Depot for many years before taking time to raise her children, then returned to work and retired from JC Penney. She was a lifetime member of St. George's Orthodox Greek Catholic Church and its Altar Society. Pauline most enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, baking and reading with her grandchildren, and traveling throughout the country with Jerry and her children. Her grandchildren were the joys of her life and the best medicine anyone could have asked for over the past two years.
Pauline is also survived by her son, Mark Histed, PhD and wife Dara, JD, Washington, DC, daughters, Christine Pirouz, JD and husband, Korey, JD, Haddonfield, NJ, and Stephanie Chung, MD and husband, Phil, DDS, Los Angeles, CA; five grandchildren, Cecile and Adam Histed, Evan and Nora Pirouz, and Thomas Chung; three brothers, Joseph Semion, Scranton, Paul and wife Dolores Semion, Paoli, and Robert and wife Marie Semion, State College; and several nieces and nephews.
Pauline and her family would like to thank the wonderful medical staff at Fox Chase Cancer Center, Memorial Sloan Kettering, and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the compassionate care she received. Her family would also like to thank all of her family and friends, including Joe and Sharon Killino, Jeanne Pellis, and Rob Semion who provided love and support to her over the last few months.
Family and friends are invited to attend Pauline's funeral which will begin on Thursday at 8:45 a.m. from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor followed by Divine Liturgy at 9:30 a.m. in St. George's Orthodox Church, 743 S. Keyser Ave, Taylor by the Very Rev Mark Leasure. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday 4-8 p.m. Panachida services will be at 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Foundation for the NIH (www.fnih.org) or the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance (ocrfa.org), supporting research and services for cancer patients and families.
