Obituary of Julie Roberts

Julie Hafich Roberts, 94, formally of Dunmore died Friday evening at Green Ridge Care Center. Her beloved husband Stephen, died December 22, 2013.

Born February 27, 1923 in Czechoslovakia she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Czoma Hafich. Julie was a graduate of Dunmore High School and she dedicated her life to taking care of her home and her family. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, Scranton, where she was a Sunday school teacher and instructed the children for their First Holy Communion. A women of many talents, Julie enjoyed knitting and crocheting for her family and friends.

Surviving are two sons, Stephen Roberts and wife Barbara, of Lexington, KY; Kenneth Roberts and wife Carol, of Arlington, MA; two daughters, Jule Konick of Washington, D.C.; and Sandra Thiel and husband James, of Bear Creek. Eight grandchildren, Stephen Roberts and wife Karen; Douglas Roberts and wife Christine; John and Matthew Roberts, Nikolai and Jacob Konick; Stephanie Thiel and husband Ryan Vanhorn and Elizabeth Thiel and husband, Brandon Locke; two great grandchildren and two great great granddaughters; nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by a sister, Marion Pucher and two brothers; Joseph and John Hafich.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Julie's funeral which will be begin on Thursday at 9:15 am from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor, followed by services at 10:00 am in St. Nicholas Orthodox Greek Catholic Church, 505 Jefferson Ave., Scranton, by Father Daniel Vaskalis. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery, Taylor. Family and friends may call Wednesday 5-7 PM at the funeral home. Parastas services will be at 7:00 PM.

Memorial contributions may be made to be made to St. Nicholas Orthodox Greek Catholic Church, 621 Vine Street, Scranton, 18510.
