Obituary of Sylvia Zubrickas
Sylvia Kacaba Zubrickas of Dunmore died Saturday evening at Regional Hospital of Scranton surrounded by her loving family. Her devoted husband of 51 years, Leonard P., died April 20, 2009.
Born in Taylor, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Dorin Kacaba. In 1953, she graduated from Taylor High School. A homemaker all of her life, Sylvia lovingly tended to the daily needs of her home and family. She took great pride in her family and she always enjoyed cooking and baking for them, especially her Christmas cookies.
Family was the center of Sylvia's life and she cherished every moment she shared with her loved ones, most especially her grandchildren. She looked forward to her trips to Lancaster, driving in the car to look for deer and doing word search. She was a faithful parishioner of Providence of God Lithuanian National Catholic Church, Scranton.
Surviving are a son, Leonard J. and wife, Roseann, Dunmore; a daughter, Wendy Cummings and husband, Michael, Scranton; four grandchildren, Gerard Zubrickas and wife, Erin; Christina Zubrickas, all of Dunmore, and Andrew and Elizabeth Cummings; two sisters, Madelyn Tricarico, Old Forge, and Geraldine Zelinski, Eynon; two brothers, Joseph Kacaba and wife, Lorraine, Clarks Summit, and Robert Kacaba and wife, Linda, Scranton; and nieces and nephews.
Three sisters, Elizabeth Olekszulin, Anna Toczko and Mae Takleszyn, also preceded her in death.
Family and friends are invited to attend Sylvia's funeral which will begin on Wednesday at 8:15 a.m. from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in Providence of God Lithuanian National Catholic Church, Oak Street and North Sumner, Scranton, to be celebrated by the Rev. Dr. Walter Placek. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery, South Abington Township.
Friends may call Tuesday 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
