He started his career as a photojournalist at WROC in Rochester, and after three years, moved to 13WHAM in Rochester, where he worked for 29 years. Carl's work at 13WHAM was highly respected, especially his coverage of the Buffalo Bills football team in the NFL, covering the Bills' four trips to the Super Bowl, "No one was on the sidelines for more huge moments in Buffalo Bills history than Carl Shuba." "Carl faced cancer as he faced the challenge of a good story, determined for a better ending and accepting the reality of the limits of time." "He had the ability to tell a story with pictures that didn't even need words... that is a talent to be able to do that... he died too young." "Family was always first... he loved his friends... he loved life and he lived life to the fullest... and that is not cliché... he had fun... and people that met him loved him." Carl was loved and respected for his dedication, authenticity, his sense of humor and his contagious smile.
