Obituary of Henry Zaleski

Henry Zaleski, of the Greenwood section of Moosic, died Saturday evening at Hospice Community Care, Dunmore. He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, the former Joanne Calpin. Born in Moosic, he was the son of the late Stanley and Stella Sorts Zalewski. Hank served our country for three years during WWII with the US Navy and was the recipient of the Pacific Theater Ribbon, the American theater Ribbon, the Victory Medal and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. After the war, he worked for Allegany Air Lines for many years, the trucking industry and retired from H.O. Wolding Company, Wisconsin. He was a parishioner of Divine Mercy Parish and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4954, Old Forge. Hank was a loving and generous person, who thought of his family first. His children and grandchildren were most precious to him. Also surviving are a son Mark and Wife, Karen, Slatington; two daughters, Patti Stanco and husband, Michael, Old Forge; Nancy Pry and husband, Jeff, Moosic; four grandchildren, Adam and Amanda Zaloga both of Old Forge; Calli and Cassie Zaleski both of Slatington; a brother Stanley and wife, Roseanne, Scranton; two brother-in-laws, Larry Calpin and wife, Phyllis, Taylor and Walter Calpin and wife, Joni, Scranton. Many Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Robert Zaloga and three sisters, Jean L. Kakareka, Dorothy M. Mizwinski and Eleanor A. Selwocki The funeral will be Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St. Taylor, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Divine Mercy Parish, by the Rev. Francis Pauselli. Interment with military honors will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Dickson City.
