Obituary of Bertha M. Walsh

Bertha M. Walsh, 84, of Taylor, formally of Olyphant, died Thursday at Moses Taylor Hospital. Her husband, Edwin Walsh, died in June 16, 1984. Born August 6, 1926, in Olyphant, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Edith Caines Sheerer. Prior to retirement, Bertha was employed by Dr. & Mrs. Joseph Walsh, of Blakely for 35 years. Bertha was a wonderful loving and caring mother and grandmother, who was always ready to lend a hand with what ever you were doing. She had a great sense of humor and wit that kept you laughing and smiling. Surviving are two daughters, Shirley Coombs and husband George, Taylor; Linda Valenta and husband Joseph, Dallas; three grandchildren, Denise Valenta, Dallas, Cheryl Valenta Sromouski and husband Tom and their son Chase, Dallas, Candice Valenta Van Etten and husband Scott, Dallas; five sisters, Jenny Foux, Berkshire, NY, Margaret Bozigar, Niagara Falls, NY, Edith Innes, Amsterdam, NY, Jane Dixon, Great Bend, Pa, Bessie Collins, Red Bank, NJ. Five brothers and four sisters preceded her in death. The funeral will be Monday at 9 a.m. from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Divine Mercy Parish, 312 Davis St. by Monsignor John Sempa.
