Obituary of John C. Dunda

John C. " Burge" Dunda, of Dunmore, died Wednesday evening at Hospice Community Care, Dunmore. His devoted wife of 46 years, the former Rosemary Victor, formally of Old Forge survives him. Born and educated in Dunmore, he was the son of the late George and Anna Semanko Dunda. John served our country with the Air Force during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, he worked for the Scranton Public library. He was a parishioner of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3474, both of Dunmore and was a former member of Elkview Country Club. Also surviving are two sons, John J., and wife, Mary; Stephen and wife, Lori and three grandchildren, Jake, Lexie and Stephen, all of Dunmore; two sister, Pauline Ruby and husband, Paul, Scranton; Marian Coyer, Dunmore; Nieces and Nephews. Two brothers, Joseph and Thomas and five sisters, Ann Yotautas, Mary Dunda, Helen Kontura, Veronica Bochinski and Agnes Keyasko preceded him in death. The funeral will be Saturday at 8:30 a.m. from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor followed by Divine Liturgy at 9:30 a.m. in St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church, 511 Drinker Street, Dunmore, by the Rev. Robert Lozinski. Interment with military honors will be in the parish cemetery.
