Obituary of Joseph Sirak

Joseph Sirak, 87, of Moosic entered into eternal rest Wednesday evening at his is residence. His faithful and devoted wife of fifty-five years, the former Elizabeth Choma survives him. Born in Old Forge, he was the son of the late Andrew and Julia Hriecina Sirak and served our country in the US Army during WWII. For many years, Joseph lived in New Jersey and worked for the A&P Super Market chain as a deli Supervisor prior to his retirement. Previously, he was a faithful parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Cathedral, Passaic, New Jersey and more recently, He was a faithful parishioner of St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church, Old Forge. Surviving is a son Joseph, Clifton, New Jersey; three daughters, Andrea and Christine Sirak both of Moosic; and Karen Broglie and husband, Richard, Landenberg, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Larisa, Matthew and Adrianna Broglie; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Julia Wanat, Mary Volpe, and Ann Cummings; and two brothers, John and his twin George. The funeral will be Tuesday at 8:45 a.m. from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor followed by Divine Liturgy at 9:30 a.m. in St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church, 140 Church St., Old Forge, by the Rev. Gary Mensinger, Pastor. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Parastas services will be Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church, 140 Church St., Old Forge 18518.
