Obituary of Stanley J. Lashevicki
Stanley J. �Banjo� Lashevicki, 79, of the Greenwood section of Moosic, died Wednesday morning at home. He is survived by his wife the former Constance Williams, They would have celebrated their 54-wedding anniversary November 24. Born in Moosic, he was the son of the late Stanley and Amelia Lopatowski Lashevicki. Early in life the minor league, scouted him to play baseball, but his loyalty was to faithfully serve our country during the Korean conflict. His love of baseball never died and he played softball all his life. Prior to his retirement, he worked at the Scranton State Office Building. He was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Polish National Catholic Cathedral. Banjo enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox and the New York Giants, was an avid golfer and played in the Thursday evening league for St. Mary�s church. He was a member of the American Legion Post 604, Moosic and the Greenwood Hose Company. Fishing and taking his grandchildren to Canada brought him much joy. His family was the center of his life and he was always there to support and encourage each endeavor. Also surviving are three daughters; Debbie Thomas and husband, John, Dupont; Terri Piazza and husband, Jeffrey, Old Forge; Diane Smicherko and husband, Frank, Taylor; six grandchildren, Amy Hughes and husband Jeff, Duryea; Jordan and Bryan Thomas; Jeffrey and Vienna Piazza; Amelia Smicherko; three great grandchildren, Ava Thomas, Jayden Thomas, Julia Hughes; two sisters, Clara Kobeski, Factoryville; Lorraine Stanton, Pinehurst, N.C. Nieces and Nephews. A sister Marion McCauley preceded him in death. The funeral will be Saturday at 8:45a.m. from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor, followed by Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Polish National Cathedral. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery, Minooka. Friends may call Friday 5-8.
