Obituary of John Kalinich

John Kalinich, 90, of Taylor, died Saturday at home. His wife of 58 years, the former Anna Mae Churnock, died May 16. Born in Taylor, he was the son of the late Stanley & NancyKalinich and was a 1937 graduate of Taylor High School. John served in the US Army during WWII. Prior to his retirement, he worked for Tobyhanna Army Depot. He was a faithful, devoted and active member of St. George's Orthodox Church, Taylor, sang each Sunday in the choir and was a member of the A.C.R.Y. Kal was and avid bowler, golfer and loved sports, especially the New York Yankees and Penn State. He loved his wife dearly and was a wonderful father and grandfather. Surviving is a son, John S. and wife, Ruth, Hudson, Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Brock and Ashley Kalinich, Amanda Keifer and Britt Lock; four great grandchildren; a brother, George Kalinich, Stratford, Ct; Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and many wonderful friends who deeply cared for him. The funeral will be Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor followed by Divine Liturgy at 10:00 a.m. in St. George's Orthodox Church, 743 S. Keyser Ave., Taylor, by the Very Rev. Protopresbyter Mark Leasure. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Semian Funeral Home. Parastas services will be at 4:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. George's Orthodox Church, 743 S. Keyser Ave., Taylor.
