Obituary of Walter C. Maghran

Walter C. Maghran, of the Greenwood Section of Moosic, died Sunday evening at Moses Taylor Hospital after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He is survived by his devoted wife the former Mary Ann Luciani. They would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary July 11. Born in Scranton, on June 20, 1947, he was the son of the late Walter and Marie Powers Maghran and was a 1965 graduate of the former Scranton Technical High School. Prior to his illness, Walter owned Maghran Electric for 37 years. He was a former member of St. Mary of Czestochowa Church, Moosic. Everything Walter did centered on his family, which was the focus of his life. Walter enjoyed trains, woodworking, listening to beautiful music but most of all; he enjoyed spending time with his family. The past several years were an uphill battle for Walter, yet he remained the rock for his family until the end. His granddaughters were the light of his life and through them; his memory will forever live on. Also surviving are two daughters, Marisa Maghran Bartal and husband, David, Pittston Township; Shannon Yackobovitz and husband, Frank, Taylor; three grandchildren, Mystere Bartal, Mia Fanning and Olivia Yackobovitz; a sister, Karen Maghran, Scranton; Nieces, Nephews and many wonderful friends who deeply cared for him. The funeral will be Thursday at 8: 45 a.m. from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Divine Mercy Parish, 312 Davis St., to be celebrated by the Rev.
