Obituary of Agnes Towarnicki

Agnes Yanko Towarnicki, of West Scranton, died Thursday at the Taylor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Her husband Nicholas died April 16, 1991 Bon and educated in Taylor, she was daughter of the late Michael & Mary Novasilchak Yanko. Prior to her retirement, she worked for the former Old Forge Lamp Shade Factory, for over thirty years. Agnes was a parishioner of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church and the alter society. She enjoyed crocheting, working on jigsaw puzzles and listening to beautiful music, which brought a smile to her face. Her family was the center of her life and she will be greatly missed, but her memory will live on in their hearts just as the music remained in Agnes heart throughout her final years. Surviving is a daughter Donna Shimo and husband, John, Scranton; a son Robert and wife, Sherry, Duryea; four grandchildren, Amy Shimo and fiancé William Hillcoat, Brian Shimo and fiancé, Chrissy Bazur, Robert Towarnicki and fiancé�(TM) Lisa Croman and David Towarnicki; a step-granddaughter, Victoria Steinetz; a sister, Irene Decker, Buffalo, NY; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Florence Skamanich, Anne Glogowski and Mary Clark; four brothers George, Michael and John Badner. The funeral will be Monday at 8:45 am from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor followed by services at 9:30 am in St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, Jefferson Ave., to be celebrated by the Rev. Donald Valasek. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Sunday 2-4 & 7-9. Parastas services will be at 6:30pm.
