Obituary of Sophie Amejka

Sophie Amejka, 94, of the Lincoln Heights section of Taylor, died Wednesday afternoon, February 3, 2010 at home. Born in Taylor, she was daughter of the late Joseph and Apolonia Novotka Amejka. For many years, Sophie resided in Newark, NJ and was a supervisor for General Electric, Newark, NJ and after her retirement she moved back to her home town. She was a faithful and devoted member of SS Peter & Paul Church, West Scranton. Surviving are cousins, Agnes Gursky, Taylor; Henrietta Golembeski, Scranton; John and Peg Gursky, Old Forge and numerous other cousins. Commital prayers and interment will be Tuesday March 16, at 1 pm in the chapel at Saints Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Cemetery, Taylor by the Rev. Samuel J. Ferretti.
