Obituary of Josephine Calpin

Josephine Calpin, 94, of the Bell Mountain Section of Scranton, died Wednesday evening at the Jewish Home with her family by her side. Her husband Walter died August 1984. Born in Scranton, she was daughter of the late Alexander and Aniela Kolodziejska. Prior to her retirement, she worked in the garment industry. She was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, N. Scranton. Josephine was a loving, caring and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who will be greatly missed. The family would like to express their gratitude for the loving care given to their mother at the Jewish Home, especially the 4th floor staff, Mercy Hospice and a special heartfelt thank you to Dr. Anthony Perry for his outstanding care through the years. Surviving are two sons, Larry and wife, Phyllis, Taylor; Walter Jr. and wife, Joanie, Scranton; a daughter, Joanne Zaleski and husband, Henry, Moosic; eight grandchildren, Patti Stanco and husband Michael, Old Forge; Mark Zaleski and wife, Karen, Slatington; Nancy Pry and husband, Jeff, Moosic; Jill Kelley and husband, John, Old Forge; Teresa Vanchure and husband, Harry; Colleen and Doreen Calpin, all of Scranton; Sharon Hill and husband, Michael, Harrisburg; ten great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. A brother Frank Kolojeski; and three sisters, Stella Broniszewski, Florence Lanziolotta and Sophie Timinski, preceded her in death. The funeral will Saturday at 10:30 am in Immanuel Lutheran Church, 238 Reese St., to be celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Manzile III, pastor. Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Dickson City. Friends may call Friday 5-8 p.m. at the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor. Due to a medical condition in the family, the family is requesting that memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 238 Reese St., 18508 or to the Jewish Home, 1101 Vine St., 18510.
