Obituary of Henry C. Lesneski

Henry C. “Hank” (Lesniewski) Lesneski, 88, of Old Forge, died Monday, February 8, 2010 at Mercy Hospital, Scranton after a brief illness. His widow is the former Madlyn Argonish. They would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on May 26, 2010. Born in Duryea on July 19, 1921, he was a son of the late Stanley and Frances Maciejewski Lesniewski. He was a graduate and Class President of the Old Forge High School Class of 1942, and served in the U. S. Coast Guard. He was a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church, Old Forge where he served as a trustee and an usher. He was also a member of the Old Forge American Legion Post 513 and the Old Forge V. F. W. Post 4915. He was retired from the Chamberlin Corp. in Scranton and was a member of the International Association of Machinists. He also served as a PIAA basketball official and baseball umpire. He was also preceded in death by brothers Joseph, Eugene "Ginky", John and Walter Lesneski; sisters Cecilia Lesneski and Sophie "Sal" Urtishak; and nephew Eugene "Ginky" Lesneski. He is also survived by two daughters, Diane B. Notari and her husband Richard P. Sr., Old Forge; and MaryAnne Jasuta and her husband Leonard Jr., Manhattan Beach, CA; seven grandchildren, Richard P. Notari Jr., Old Forge; Dr. Robert J. Notari, and his wife Amy, Old Forge; Timothy J. Notari, and his wife Jennifer, Pittsburgh; and Stephanie, Jaquelyn, Victoria and Kyle Jasuta, Manhattan Beach, CA; sister-in-laws, Leona Cherundolo, Wilmington, DE; Anne Marie Mandichak and husband George, Old Forge; and Barbara DiSimoni, and husband Carmen, Washington, NJ; brother-in-law John M. Argonish and wife Domenica, Old Forge; nieces, nephews and cousins. The funeral will be held Saturday at 9:15 a.m. from the Semian Funeral Home, Union Street, Taylor with a celebration of Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. from St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church, Church Street, Old Forge. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Family and friends may call on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home with Parastas at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church, Church Street, Old Forge 18518.
