Obituary of William Leggon

William Leggon Jr. 84, of Taylor, died Saturday morning at Scranton Health Care surrounded by his devoted wife and best friend Regis. His first wife the former Delores Butch, died January 21, 1990. His second wife the former Shirley Kafchinski survives him. They would have celebrated their 17-wedding anniversary July 10. Born in Taylor, he was son of the late William Sr. and Anna M. Martin Leggon and served with the US Navy during WWII. For many years, Bill worked as a supervisor for the former Trane Corporation Dunmore and after retirement worked at Pine Hills Country Club, Taylor. He was a life long parishioner of St. George's Orthodox Church, Taylor, served as a trustee for many years and was a member of the social club. He was an avid, golfer, had a whole in one and played in the Arcaro & St. George's Golf Leagues. Bill was a member of the Taylor Lions Club and the VFW post 4909, Dupont. He was an avid bowler, liked to dance and listen to country music. Shirley would like to express her deepest gratitude to the staff at Scranton Health Care for their love, concern and compassion; they extended to Billy over the years and also to Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their support. Also surviving is a brother Robert and wife, Karen, Port Charlotte, Fl; a sister Ann Rutkowski, Dickson City; a stepson Ron Malinchak, Crystal Lake; and two-step grandchildren. Aunt, Cousin, Nieces and Nephews. A sister Cynthia Leggon preceded him in death. The funeral will be Friday at 10:30 am from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor followed by services at 11 am in St. George's Orthodox Church, 743 S. Keyser Ave., Taylor to be celebrate by the Very Rev. Protopresbyter Mark Leasure, pastor. Interment will take place in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Thursday 5 -8pm.
