Obituary of Diane R. Gerrity

Diane R. Gerrity, 49, of Chinchilla, died Saturday morning surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer at Mercy Hospice. Her fiance' is Daniel Ostopick. Born on July 14, 1960 in Scranton, she is daughter of Eugene and Marie Kersavage Mac Reth, Newfoundland. Diane was a 1977 graduate of Scranton Technical High School. Prior to her illness, Diane worked as a dispatcher for the Pennsylvania State Police, Dunmore Barracks. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Snows Church, Clarks Summit and her faith brought her much comfort and consolation. Diane was a member of Emanon Golf Club, Falls and she loved to play golf with her fiance' and dear friends. She also enjoyed crafts, working in her garden, cooking and making her delicious cookies. Diane's family would like to take this opportunity to extend a very heartfelt thank you to the nursing staff at Mercy Hospice for their love, concern, compassionate care and understanding they shared with Diane and her family. Also surviving is a son Robert A. Jr., Clarks Summit; a grandson, Nicholas; two sisters, Debbie Kalavsky and husband, George, Dickson City; and Donna Gilpin, Gouldsboro; a brother Robert MacReth and wife, Cheryl, Olyphant; Aunts, Uncles Cousins and many dear friends. A nephew George Kalavsky III preceded her in death. The funeral will be Wednesday at 9:15 am from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor follow by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 State St., Clarks Summit, to be celebrated by Monsignor James McGarry, Pastor.
