Obituary of Eleanor Sovitch

Eleanor Sovitch, 88, Old Forge died Thursday evening at Mercy Hospice. Her husband Michael died October 3, 1968. Born in Dickson City, she was daughter of the late Floyd and Viola Grutkowski Modzelewski and was a 1938 graduate of Dickson City High School. Prior to her marriage, she was an accomplished pianist and played in various clubs. Eleanor was also a talented seamstress. She loved taking care of her home and garden and watching game shows on television and was a huge fan of the NFL and NBA. She was a parishioner of St. George's Orthodox Church, Taylor. Surviving is a daughter Denise Sovitch, Old Forge and a son Dennis, Scranton. A sister Jean Pregmon and an infant grandson preceded her in death. The funeral will be Monday at 9:30 am from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor followed by services at 10 am in St. George's Orthodox Church, 743 S. Keyser Ave., Taylor, to be celebrated by the Very Rev. Protopresbyter Mark Leasure, pastor. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call Monday morning from 8:30 am until 9:30 am.
