Obituary of Agnes M. Charles

Agnes M. Gardner Charles, of Taylor, died Tuesday afternoon shortly after arrival at Community Medical Center. Her husband Robert J. died August 11, 1997. Born in Scranton, she was daughter of the late Harold and Margaret McGinty Gardner. Throughout her life, she worked for Manhattan Shirt, Hyde Grade Pants, Arcaro's Restaurant and retired from the University of Scranton. Agnes was full of life and a joy to all the people she met over the years. She will be dearly missed by her family. Also surviving is a daughter Lauri Shimko, Avoca and companion Brian Carpenter; two sons, Robert J. and wife Liza, Wilkes-Barre Twp; Frank, Taylor; seven grandchildren; Amanda & Ashley Shimko, Robert, Justin, Daryl, Ryan and Morgan Charles; a daughter-in-law Laurel Sebastianelli, Moosic, who was always at her side and devoted caregiver; a sister Betty Shorten, Lake Ariel. A sister Mary Woolley preceded her in death. The funeral will be Friday at 11 am from the Semian Funeral Home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am in St. Ann's Basilica.
