Obituary of Lorraine Eleanor Gordon

Lorraine Eleanor Gordon, 73, of Old Forge, died Saturday morning at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Her husband Raymond C. survives her and they celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary January 26. Born in Old Forge, she was daughter of the late Joseph & Carolyn Hnatt Krempasky and was a 1953 graduate of Old Forge High School. Throughout her life, she worked as a secretary for the former Globe Store, helped in church affairs for the late Most Rev. Bishop Michael Dudick and retired from Lastone Dutchess. She was a life long and devoted parishioner of St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church, Old Forge and the Blessed Virgin Mary sodality. Eleanor was very active in the band parents association at Old Forge High School and served as a Girl Scout leader. She loved to travel, cook for family and friends and was an excellent baker, especially breads and kolachi. Her family was the center of her life and she will be dearly missed. Also surviving are two daughters; Debra Sica and husband David, Old Forge; Carolyn Gazowski and husband, Thomas, Larksville; three grandchildren, Christopher Sica and wife, Jessie and David Sica all of Old Forge; Kristen Gazowski, Larksville; a sister, Mildred Scalzo and husband Paul, Scranton. The funeral will be Wednesday at 9:15 am from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor with Divine Liturgy at 10 am in St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church, 140 Church St., Old Forge, to be celebrated by the Rev. Gary Mensinger, pastor. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery, Old Forge. Friends may call Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9. Parastas services will be at 7pm.
