Obituary of James A. Lamonica
James A. Lamonica Sr., of Scranton, died Thursday evening at Moses Taylor hospital. His devoted wife of thirty-nine years, the former Jean M. Gruczkowski, died November 13, 2009. Born in Scranton, he was son of the late Anthony C. and Josephine M. Zangardi Lamonica, and was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School Class of 1964. For over thirty-five years, he worked for Herff-Jones, Waverly. He was a life long parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church. Jim was a most cherished husband, father, uncle and cousin. He loved his dogs Rocky, Daisy and Jeter. An extremely intelligent man, he enjoyed watching Jeopardy and doing crossword puzzles. Jim had been an avid New York Yankee fan his entire life. He was dearly loved by family and friends and will be deeply missed. He and his beloved wife, Jeanie are now together, two angels in heaven watching over their family. Surviving is a son James A. Jr., Scranton; a daughter Janine, Philadelphia; three sister-in-laws, Bernice Stolan, Taylor; Marion York and husband William; Diane M. Ogonosky and husband, Robert, all of Scranton; Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 9:30 am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 630 Genet St. Interment will take place in Cathedral Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours.
