Obituary of Alexander H. Krenitsky

Alexander H. Krenitsky, 85, of Old Forge, died Sunday evening at Community Medical center. His devoted wife, the former Mary Barsigian, survives him. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary September 17th. Born in Old Forge on January 22, 1924, he was son of the late Harrison and Tekla Nesteriak Krenitsky and a graduate of Old Forge High School Class of 1924. Shortly after graduation, Al enlisted in the Navy to proudly serve our county during WWII. Prior to his retirement, he worked as an accountant for Weston, for over thirty years. He was a lifelong and faithful parishioner of St. Michael's Orthodox Church, Old Forge, where he served as treasure and was a social member of its men's club. Al served as First Vice President of the Russian Brotherhood Organization and dedicated many hours for the good of the organization. He was a member of the F&AM, Moosic Lodge. Throughout his life, he loved to watch all sports and especially liked to follow the Old Forge Blue Devils. Every Thursday for the past thirty-five years, he looked forward to playing cards with his friends. He was greatly loved by his family, especially his granddaughters and will be dearly missed by the many people who knew him. The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to Dr. John Diakwi, Dr. Carl Barsigian and Dr. Ronald Barrett for their care, concern and understanding during this most difficult time. Also surviving are two daughters, Barbara Grippi and husband, Dr. Michael, Bala Cwynd; Sandy Batton and husband, Dr. James, Clarks Summit; four granddaughters, Kristen and husband, Levi Litman, NY; Amy Osborne and husband, Kieran, CA; Jennifer Batton and Patrick Snyder, Clarks Summit; and Jessica Batton, Clarks Summit, Many nieces and nephews. Two brothers, John and Michael and five sisters, Helen and Millie Krenitsky, Anna Orzolek, Julia Hubiak and Mary Pronovich preceded him in death. The funeral will be Thursday at 8:45 am from the Semian Funeral home, 704 Union St., Taylor followed by services at 9:30 am in St. Michael's Orthodox Church, Summer St., Old Forge, to be celebrated by the Rev. John Soucek, rector. Interment with military rites, parish cemetery, Old Forge. Friends may call Wednesday 5-8.
