Donald Glenn Kizer, 93, of Cavendish, Vermont, died Thursday, October 15, 2009. His wife of 58 years, Ann Macik Kizer, preceded him in death. Born on June 24, 1916 in Varden, Pennsylvania, son of the late Charlotte and Glenn W. Kizer, he was raised in Scranton, Pennsylvania and graduated from the University of Scranton. He lived in Newark and West Orange, New Jersey, and was a faithful member and deacon of the Livingston Baptist Church. He worked as a supervisor for an electronics manufacturing company. Upon retirement in 1981, he and his wife moved to Cavendish, Vermont, where he was an active member and deacon of the Cavendish Baptist Church. He also took part in the Peace Action Network and many volunteer activities in the community, including Board member of the Black River Good Neighbor Services and reading partner with children in the America Reads program at the Cavendish Town Elementary School. Two daughters, Charlotte Snyder of Cavendish, Vermont, and Loretta Mershon of Raleigh, North Carolina, four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews survive him.
