Obituary of Nicholas Butch Romanowsky
Nicholas "Butch" Romanowsky, of Old Forge, died Friday morning at home. He is survived by his wife the former Sylvia Kaschak. They celebrated their 54-wedding anniversary July 16th. Born in Old Forge on December 17, 1927, he was son of the late Michael and Anna Homiak Romanowsky and was a graduate of Old Forge High School Class of 1945. Nick faithfully served our country with the US Navy during WWII. Prior to his retirement, he worked for Lackawanna County for the clerk of judicial records. He was a parishioner of St. Stephen's Orthodox Church, Old Forge. Each year he looked forward to his fishing trip to Canada and spending time with his grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye. Also surviving is a daughter Veronica Romanowsky and husband, Martin Whited, Clarks Summit; a son David and wife, Lori, Old Forge; a grandson David Nicholas and wife Laura, Cedarburg, Wisc; a granddaughter Samantha Hall and husband Michael, Norristown; a great grandson Sam. Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Atapovich; Olga Romanowsky; three brothers, Michael, John and Walter "Babe" Romanowsky. The funeral will be Monday at 10 am in the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor with services by the Rev. German Ciuba. Interment St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Taylor. Friends may call Sunday 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Panachida services will be Sunday evening at 6:30 pm.
