Obituary of Lovie Witiak

Lovie Witiak, Old Forge, died Monday, August 10, 2009 at Allies Skilled Nursing Center, Scranton. Her husband Nicholas Witiak, died January 24, 1985. Born and educated in Old Forge, she was daughter of the late Peter and Theresa Onuschak Witiak. Throughout her life, Lovie worked in the garment industry working for Old Forge Dress, Ann's Fashions and retired from Sally Blouse. She was a life long and devoted parishioner of St. Michaels Orthodox Church, Old Forge and was always there to lend a helping hand. Lovie was an excellent seamstress, and she made many altar covers and vestments for the priests at St. Michaels's over the years. Her family was the center of her life, especially her grandson. Lovie was a very humble lady, who loved and was loved by family and friends. Surviving are two sons; Daniel and wife, Donna, Old Forge; Dennis, Levittown; a grandson Thomas, Old Forge; Many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Hubiak and Alice Gamble; four brothers, Nicholas, John, Harry and Steve Witiak. The funeral will be Friday at 8:45 am from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor followed by services at 9:30 am in St. Michael's Orthodox church, 512 Winter St., Old Forge, to be celebrated by the Rev.
