Obituary of Gerald Jesse

Gerald A. Jesse, Greenwood Section of Moosic, died Wednesday evening at home. He is survived by his companion of 27 years, Lillian Santomauro Gaughan. Born in Greensburg, he was son of the late Edward C. and Mary E. Wolfgang Jesse. Prior to his illness, he worked 20 years at Elliot Company, later United Technologies Corp., where he started as a machinist, and later served in management. He started at the Jeanette plant, and was transferred to Scranton location in 1977. He previously owned and operated Jesse's Speed Shop, Jeanette, and Jesse's Swim Well Shop, Taylor. He also worked as a mechanic part-time. He had a great work ethic. In his youth, he caddied golf at Greensburg Country Club where he learned to play the game. He also was a drag car racer. He graduated from Hempfield High School in 1961. He was a member of Jackson Street Baptist Church, and later a member oft theChurch of St. Joseph, Minooka Section, Scranton. He enjoyed spending family time at Camp Jesse in Gardeau, where he hunted and fished. He enjoyed having dogs and cats as pets, having rescued a few from the SPCA. He was very much loved and will be greatly missed by his family. Also surviving are two daughters, Gerri A. Jesse, Dalton; Marcy Stanton, Throop; three sons, Robert, Lakehurst, NJ; Joshua, Monroeville, PA; and Mark, Kensington, CT; three brothers, Edward, Greensburg; John, Aiken, S.C.; Gary, Sheffield Lake, OH; two sisters, Constance Seymour, Salisbury, MD; Dorothy Barkell, Middlebury, VT; 27 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; his extended family, James Gaughan, Moscow; Joseph Gaughan, Taylor; Michael Gaughan, Jacqueline Gaughan and Jo Ann Connell, all of Moosic; many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a brother Robert, three nephews and a niece. Friends may call Saturday 5-8 at the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor. Interment will take place on Monday, August 24, in Brush Creek Cemetery, Irwin, PA, with a graveside service at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be to the SPCA, 524 E.
