Obituary of William P. Rachko
William P. “Woofie” Rachko, of Taylor, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, two days before his 68th birthday at Geisinger Community Medical Center.
Born in Taylor, on July 12, 1950, he was the son of the late William and Margaret Petrunchik Rachko. In 1968, he graduated from Riverside High School and shortly thereafter, he was drafted into the US Army to serve during the Vietnam War. Bill worked for Sluck’s Catering for many years. During the holiday’s he enjoyed cooking for his family. Bill was an avid New York Yankee fan, Dallas Cowboys and Penn State fan. He loved his grandchildren and cooking specialty items for his friends. He was a parishioner of St. George’s Orthodox Church, Taylor.
The Rachko Family would like to thank Bills many good friends, who came to his aide to help him throughout his life.
Surviving are a sister, Mary M. Rachko, with whom he resided; a son, William P. Jr. and wife, Danielle, Scranton; two daughters, Maria Rachko, Taylor and Lauren Rachko and fiancé Joe Gvazdauskas, Old Forge; three grandchildren, Chloe, Nora Jean and Emily; an aunt, Irene Mati and her husband,Nicholas; an uncle, Joe Rachko, Taylor; Cousins and many friends.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Bill’s funeral Monday at 8:45 a.m. from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor, followed by a Divine Liturgy in St. George’s Orthodox Church743 S. Keyser Ave., Taylor, at 9:30 by, the Very Rev. Mark Leasure. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Family and friends may call Sunday, 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home, with Panachida services beginning at 1:45p.m.
